Tomorrow marks my 6 months since I have been here and it’s hard to believe I’ve been here for half a year now. I’m currently on summer vacation and have been trying to find things to keep busy and continue to learn more about this amazing country. My days are filled exploring Talca, the city I am in, and making more friends. Me and some other exchange students have found some museums to explore as well as finding fun things to do.
This past week was Chile’s Independence day and there was supposed to be a parade but it got canceled due to wildfires. This weekend to celebrate Chile there is a festival along the main river with a big stage and some music artists from here as well as other countries.
Recently I turned 16 and got to spend it on the lake with some of my friends as well as my host mom and sister. It was a really nice day and reminded me so much of my summers in the US.
I was lucky to go on a beach trip about a month ago, to one of Chile’s major cities, Conception, a bigger city along the coast a bit south of Talca. The water was really nice but some of the coldest water I have swam in. And I got to see one of the most amazing sunsets.
Although some days can be boring, I have been taking a math course to catch up on high school, and have been writing almost everyday in my journal. I have also been doing some art projects such as painting and sewing.
In a few weeks I will be going on my Patagonia trip and I am so excited!
